English Premier League club Arsenal FC is teaming up with the British soccer climate action network Planet League and aluminum packaging giant Ball Corporation to create a unique sustainability tournament for the club's supporters called "Planet League Cup." The first season of the tournament will kick off this spring, giving fans the opportunity to score green goals by taking actions that help reduce their environmental impact and make a real difference to the planet.

In the tournament, fans compete with other clubs by completing different activities each week that are focused on a specific theme. These can include anything from having a meat-free meal to turning the lights down or filling up a reusable water bottle with tap water. The club whose supporters achieve the most green goals will win the Planet League Cup at the end of the season.

For this year's tournament, teams Planetliga will be ranked at the end of each league sanctioned season and the top 11 teams will qualify for the Echo Cluster. In the event that a team is unable to finish in the top eleven, it will be replaced by the next highest finishing team.

If a team misses out on qualifying for the Echo Cluster, it may sign up for the waitlist free agent team for its age group. This is an additional opportunity for players to play in the championship and will be considered a full team by the league. However, players will not be permitted on the player bench during game play.

During the tournament, the teams will compete in seven matches in a round-robin format. Each match will be played at a venue that has been approved by the league. Teams will be awarded points for each game based on how well they perform. The team with the most points at the end of the season will receive a trophy and advance to the championship match.

If a team is found to be in violation of the league rules, it will face suspensions and possible expulsion from the competition. The rules are available online at the league's website. All league violations must be reported to the league organizer within 24 hours of the infraction.
